The Italian Department of Juvenile Justice (JJD) is the competent branch of the Italian Ministry of Justice for juvenile justice, both civil and criminal. It deals with all matters concerning the prevention and care of juvenile delinquency, it runs all services and facilities of criminal juvenile justice such as Juvenile Correctional Institutes (I.P.M.), Provisional Detention Homes (C.P.A.), Youth Welfare Offices (U.S.S.M.) and Residential Communities, through the local Juvenile Justice Centres. The JJD also acts as Central Authority for the enforcement of decisions on matters such as child’s custody, protection and international abduction. Beyond its institutional activity of intervention and care of juvenile offenders, through initiatives aiming at their rehabilitation and reintegration, the JJD performs a considerable activity of research and classification on juvenile matters with a particular attention to phenomena such as juvenile delinquency and juvenile crime, child abuse and drug addiction as well as on vocational training of practitioners.
The Institute of Conflict Resolution in Sofia is an association of lawyers, researchers and university professors. It has 18 members and fellows. The ICR was founded in 2000 to help establish new forms of conflict resolution as a legitimate part of the Bulgarian legal system. The Institute works mainly in consultancy and training in mediation and restorative justice, including drafting of an individual programme with respect to the trainees’ needs.
The Association for Probation and Mediation in Justice (SPJ) is a civil association founded in 1994 for the purpose of supporting new and alternative forms of resolving criminal issues. It carries out innovative projects to bring new effective approaches and know-how, training of trainers, vocational training for practitioners of the Czech Probation and Mediation Service, for workers of probation and mediation pilot centres in Slovakia. SPJ took part in creating the provisions for the establishment of the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic (PMS), including work on the regulations of the education of PMS officers and assistants and participation in the preparation of the new PMS Act.
The Christian Youth Village Foundation of Germany is one of the big non profit organisation in Germany engaged in the welfare and education of young people. It offers children, juveniles and adults schooling and training, mentorship and support. Each year more then 90.000 people participate in CJD programmes at 150 locations all over the country. Each branch of CJD organises its work autonomously within the guidelines of CJD. CJD Eutin located in the Land of Schleswig – Holstein in the north of Germany works in various fields: vocational training/second labour market, employment/qualification; in the field of migration/integration; assistance for families bringing up children.
CRAS Onlus - Centre for Research in Social Affairs - has been founded on the experience of Cras Soc. Coop. a.r.l. by inheriting part of its staff and activities. CRAS Onlus expertise ranges over the following main fields: social issues, social inclusion, drop-out, gender and equal opportunities, vocational training and bilan de compétences. In designing and developing its activity, CRAS Onlus makes use of technologies for the support of local resources and the valorisation of target groups.
The Psychoanalytic Institute for Social Research (IPRS) is a private research institute in the areas of psychology, social sciences and bio-ethics. IPRS dedicates its research to studying the social phenomena related to adolescent marginalisation, forms of exclusion and discrimination, racism and xenophobia, mechanisms of association in civil society—both voluntary and self-help—analysis of educational processes and intercultural pedagogy. IPRS has participated as both coordinator and partner in research projects on the integration of migrants and especially minors. Particular attention has been dedicated to the relationship between the immigration of minors and deviant behaviour in order to analyse the possible forms of insertion of unaccompanied foreign minors both in the context of the host country and in the country of origin. In addition, for years IPRS has provided professional training courses on the many themes related to migration (service provision, entrepreneurialism, discrimination, etc.).
Foundation Internacional O’Belen mainly works in managing therapeutic and protection centres where children in coflict with law are settled; other field of activities are judicial proceedings, self-governmental rooms.
